Nicola studied piano starting at age 6 and clarinet from grade 6 to 8 before changing to saxophone.
In 1993, she attended UBC and graduated with a B.Mus. in 1997. She studied with Julia Nolan and participated in many ensembles including quartets, wind ensemble, jazz ensemble and new music ensemble. After graduation, she met her husband and moved to Victoria, where they started a family. In Victoria, she played with the 5th Field RCA Band and the Wine & Roses Ladies' Salon Orchestra. In 2009, her family moved to Nanaimo. She is very glad to be playing saxophone in the Nanaimo Concert Band and the Island Time Saxophone Quartet. She especially enjoys watching her saxophone students progress and excel in their band programs. |
